Biopolo Ticino

Biopolo Ticino will be present at the BIO International meeting in Chicago from the 3rd to the 6th of May at the Swiss Pavilion together with the other regional clusters and OSEC.

This is an important opportunity to create contacts and to feel the pulse of the industry. Several Biopolo members will be present in Chicago and others have taken advantage of the Biopolo offer to represent them there.

An Advanced Short Course on BioEntreprenureship will be held in Lugano from the 7th to the 11th of June 2010. The one-week course is aimed at promoting entrepreneurship in the field of Biotechnology. It provides an in-depth understanding of what it takes to set up and finance successful biotechnology companies in Europe.

Extensive discussions and case studies will emphasize the challenging issues that are critical to this relatively new market opportunity. During the week, participants may draft a plan for developing a new opportunity in their area. Participants will be given guidance on how to take on leadership roles in their communities, to start and fund their own business, or play a more active role in investing in life-sciences ventures.

Engineer Angelo Paris presented the ambitious project of EXPO2015

EXPO2015 offers the city of Milan and its surrounding territory an opportunity to place itself at the service of the national economy to showcase the excellence of Italian industrial, cultural, scientific, technological and social achievements worldwide. The theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” embraces the entire range of problems inherent in food and human nutrition in all its aspects.

More than 90 high school and university students attended a special screening of the documentary “Naturally Obsessed” about the life of PhD students.

The screening was organized by Biopolo as part of the USGEB meeting in Lugano on the 11th and 12th of february. A repeat screening was held in the atrium of the IRB.
